Bromont, your next must visit destination!

Here’s why you need to make Bromont Quebec a vacation destination:

1. Mountain Biking

2. Gravel Riding

3. Hiking

4. Café’s and Restaurants

5. Small town culture

I chose this town as a place to live before I leave Quebec (for an unknown period of time), because I know that there would be no better place to spend summer and fall in.

When I’ve visited in the past I’ve ventured to the same places that are familiar, but now that I’m here for the remainder of the year, I’m exploring new places which has been an absolute treat.

For mountain bikers and for those that love downhill and pretty technical trails, you can head to the main mountain, Mont Bromont. If you’re not comfortable heading out alone, you can hire trail guides to take you out. Parking is free but you will pay to use the trails if you are not a resident.

If you’re looking for a smaller and less intense trail network, try Mont Oak. My favourite trails are WamBam, Fruit Loop and Phooz. There’s plenty of parking as Dooly’s has around 80 spots or so reserved for mtb’ers. You need to purchase a trail pass here also which you can buy online at the Parc Des Sommets website. Little note for gravel riders, K1 is a great trail for riding but on the weekends, there are people checking passes and they may charge you.

Ondago and Trail Forks are the recommended apps to navigate the trail networks. I’ve provided a link above to get the day passes on the Parc des Sommets website and highly encourage you to buy your pass ahead of time.

For gravel riders I would recommend you check out RideWithGPS and search on routes in the area that are gravel focused. I’ve posted a few links on my account below that you may enjoy. There is a nice route to Balnea spa which is beautiful and there’s no much traffic.

A few of my favourite spots in down are Café 1792 and Pittstopvelocafe. At the Café you will have the most refreshing lemonade with treats and sandwiches and at the bike shop you can get a beer with some great food. It should be noted that the bike shop has drop-in on weekends and they can take a look at your bike right away to fix small repairs. There’s plenty of picnic tables outside as well while you wait for you bike and to have a bit. In my experience both places speak both french and english. For evening dining, check out Chadro and Le Calumet. Great food and ambience!

If you want to jump in a lake to refresh after a day in the outdoors, head to Lac Brome and to Douglasse Beach. There’s a cost to park but you are right at the bike path to walk into town to grab a bit and tour the village. Kudos to the community for having a bilingual website and FB page!

I will continue to share my travel adventures here so that when you come and spend time in the Eastern townships, you will have some ideas that may interest you. These towns are small, but they have a lot of fun and welcoming energy for everyone to enjoy.
