Amanda’s Story

Amanda's journey to self-discovery started at the early age of 18. During a short period of time, Amanda lost her father and best friend just before starting College at St. Lawrence in Kingston Ontario. In 3 year years she obtained her Business Administration - Information Systems diploma, all a while grieving the death of two very two important people in her life.
In addition to her studies, graduating, she was a member of the college soccer team and started competitive hockey with a local club. There wasn't much time for grieving, after 2 weeks off of school, she went right back to her busy life and pushed away any feelings that needed to be dealt with. As a result of not taking the time needed to comprehend what happened, Amanda started having sleeping issues, troubles trusting people and her body and mind never had the chance to fully understand the magnitude of what happened. This made coping with future life stresses quite difficult.

Subsequent years following school, Amanda continued to move on and started organizing football teams, hockey tournaments and played competitive soccer. In her mid- twenties, everything came to a halt when she was diagnosed with Epstein-Barr Syndrome. For the next 5 years, Amanda dealt with a variety of health issues. She experienced, depression and felt confusion in how she saw her future. The stress and emotional toll that Amanda dealt with over the years made it difficult to get through this illness and live a normal and healthy life for some time.

In working with naturopaths, holistic healers, coaches and therapists over her lifetime, she overcame many of the symptoms and transitioned toward a life plan that aligned with her goals and values. In the heartbeat of everything, Amanda loves to give back to the community and inspire others. After many years of participating in club sports, she met an outdoor community that would eventually help inspire the Women's Trail Festival, which inspires and encourages females to trail run and spend time in nature. In meeting so many inspiring people, Amanda has found a calling and purpose for why she wants to help you move on and achieve your goals. In finding herself through outdoor sport, Amanda discovered that she enjoys creating her own solo adventures which allows her to challenge herself, face any fears about travelling alone and share her journey with her friends in the hopes they are inspired to try their own adventure.

When she looks back now, she can see where she was and how far she has come. Amanda's career has helped her gain the confidence to be a motivating team leader and assist in help building successful teams. Her personal life has taught her that any challenge that comes her way, is an opportunity for change and enlightenment. It isn't always easy, but when she looks back on her 25-year old self struggling with health issues and depression, she can smile at the person she has become and the life she's living. This life experience has guided her to help others in overcoming hurdles and feeling a sense of accomplishment and pride with one's endeavors.
